Practice Resurrection: Bring Your Art Back to Life

Sept 13 - 15, 2019
9 am - 4 pm daily (with a 1 hour lunch break)

Hannon Barn in Arroyo Grande, CA
$450.00

The concept of “being brought back to life” can be incredibly valuable for any artist to embrace. This workshop will focus on a number of practices: mending brokenness (saving your prior failed artworks); repurposing rather than discarding (using diverse collage elements within your artwork); and pushing boundaries (breaking rules that previously governed your art process). Just like the phoenix who in Greek mythology must rise from the ashes of its predecessor, these concepts can provide new life to your art practice. This workshop is appropriate for artists who work from varied subjects – the figure, landscape, still life or non-objective abstraction. There will be no models. Instead, participants will be asked to bring in a selection of 6 – 12 of their own prior artworks to work on utilizing these practices. While success may have proved to be elusive in the past, you’ll be surprised how these techniques can bring unsatisfactory artworks back to life!
