The Icarus Project

Storytelling is in my blood. Picturing Icarus in descent asks a visual artist to draw upon extensive knowledge as to what occurs as a body falls. One must consider anatomical properties like weight, structure, and flexibility. Beyond physical appearance, the rich cache of metaphors associated with falling – falling from grace, having the carpet pulled out from underfoot, falling out of favor, losing one’s footing, or falling head over heels – is fertile terrain.
